I attempted to update my blog via video, but maybe another time. Right now I'm too consumed with the desire to wirte to wait until I have a computer with the abiltiy to actually make a video in front of me.
I'm finally settled in Garden Valley, Texas. Although it's honestly still surreal.
The little town in Texas where I live is beautiful, all times of the day.
Even at 4:30 am when we are forced to wake up and corporately work out in 30 degree weather.Itssss amaaazing.
I finally have my permanent room, so it feels alot less like summer camp now.
I also received my ministry placement. The first two weeks were spent constantly in sessions and interviews and doing testings to see what job placement they would have me spending 30 hours a week doing. The Honor Acadmey is a ministry of Teen Mania which also encompasses the ministries of Extreme Camps, Aquire The Fire, Battle Cry and Global Expeditions. I now work as a Global Expeditions Encouragement caller. Basically I will be talking to kids who have been accepted to go on our trips and make sure they have all their paperwork and their passport and encourage them on a week to week basic to continue fund raising and seeking Jesus as He blesses them. It's been really good so far. I have learned so much through this ministry about taking hold of the Kingdom violently. We are fighting a war and we are desperately losing to the chariots of media and modern society because we are not praying hard enough and we are not going out as laborers. The harvest is plentiful!
Mmmm Texas has been an experience for sure.
I've gone canoeing, I've been to Lousiana, I've visited numerous different and very diverse churches, and I've seen Leeland!
I also atteneded this event called The Burn, which was a 24 hour prayer and worship time in a near by town. That was something I have never experienced before, and it was awesome. It was like sleeping in heaven, and it was alot of one on one time with Jesus. I slept most of it but falling asleep and waking up to worship and surrounded by other people either sleeping or praying was just amazing.God has met me in so many ways here in Garden Vaaaaalley, Texas.
The rules here are insanely strict- but they are all for accountability. Such as, no secular music or movie watching on campus. And you can get sent home over small things- but its all a matter of timely confession and the state of your heart- not legalism.
Also, the first month is the hardest, as we are not allowed to have sugar or listen to any music except worship..but tomorrow that ends- praaaaise Jesus!
I'm also learning alot about hating the things of this world and understanding that in the light of eternity nothing is going to matter except what I do for Him, which is a constant conviction.
"Jesus said to Him, ' No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the Kingdom of God.' " Luke 9:62
